Saturday is National Homebrew Day

Thank God for Jimmy Carter!  He legalized homebrewing beer during his administration.

This Saturday May 5, 2012 is National Homebrew Day.  People will gather at American Homebrewers Association Big Brew sites around the USA and brew their own beer to celebrate.  If you want to participate, find a location near you here.

On Homebrew Day in 2011, 14,800 gallons of homebrew were brewed by an estimated 6,700 people in 48 states.

If there isn’t a homebrew site near you, host your own.  The American Homebrewers Association has a list of recipes and everything you’ll need on their website.

Brewing beer is easy and can be quite the rewarding experience.  You made the beer and know what’s in it.  Share it or save it for a hot summer day.

There are plenty of resources out there if you need help.  Consult the forums at the AHA website or Homebrewtalk.com.
